WACO, Texas (SMU) – Five Mustangs earned All-Championship honors and two were named Most Outstanding Players at the 2021 National Collegiate Equestrian Association National Championship.

Senior Aubrey Alderman took home three honors as an All-Championship Team selection for both Horsemanship and Reining and the 2021 Horsemanship MOP. Alderman went undefeated at nationals with an overall record of 5-0-1, including 3-0 in Horsemanship and 2-0-1 in Reining. Her five points for the Mustangs is the most scored by any SMU Western rider at the NCEA National Championship in a single year.

Dani Latimer joined Alderman on the All-Championship Reining Team and was named the 2021 Reining MOP. Latimer went undefeated in the event, earning a 2-0-1 record. She scored a 223.5 in the championship final, which was the highest Reining score of the weekend across all matchups.

Nya Kearns and Mallory Vroegh were named to the All-Championship Horsemanship Team, giving SMU three of the five total selections. Kearns, a freshman, finished the weekend with a 2-1 record and earned her 10^th Mustang point of the season in the semifinal round against Baylor. Vroegh also earned a 2-1 record, which included a 26-point win over her Baylor opponent, helping SMU to its first team championship appearance in program history.

On the Jumping Seat side, freshman Taylor Madden was named to the All-Championship Flat Team. Madden finished undefeated in Flat with a 3-0 record and earned the event-high score in all three of SMU's matchups. Her score of 254 on championship day against Georgia was the highest Flat score among all teams at nationals.

The eight total honors marks another milestone for the Mustangs as SMU previously had only one rider selected to an NCEA All-Championship Team. Madison Steed was named to the Reining team in 2019 and was also the Reining MOP for the Event Championship.
