CLEVELAND (SMU) – SMU tight end
Kylen Granson has been selected by the Indianapolis Colts in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft as the 127th overall pick.
Granson becomes the sixth Mustang in the past four seasons to be selected. He is the first tight end selected for SMU since Taylor Thompson was selected by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round in 2012. This is the first time SMU has had multiple players chosen since 2018 when three players were drafted.
Brandon Stephens was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round.
Granson
, who opened the 2020 season on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, was a first-team American Athletic Conference selection after earning second-team honors in 2019. In just two seasons on the Hilltop, Granson left his mark, ranking as one of the top tight ends in program history, setting the career receiving TD record by a tight end with 14 and ranking second in yards (1,257) and receptions (78) for a tight end. The senior had a breakout game at Temple with six receptions for a career-high 149 yards and one touchdown. It was his second-career 100-yard game.
Granson was selected for the Reese's Senior Bowl and Shrine Game.
