STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 4-seeded SMU men's golf begins its postseason journey at Karsten Creek Golf Club for the NCAA Stillwater Regional, March 17-19. The top five teams at the 13-team Stillwater Regional after 54 holes advance to the NCAA Championships in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Â
The Mustangs, ranked No. 21 nationally, are coming off a second-place finish at the AAC Championships in April. SMU has finished top-five in four of their six events this season, and advanced to the NCAA Championships in each of their last three trips to NCAA Regionals in 2014, 2015 and 2019.
Â
SMU is led by a dynamic top-two of
Mac Meissner, who was recently named the 2021 Byron Nelson Award recipient for an outstanding college golf career, and
Noah Goodwin, the American Athletic Conference's Golfer of the Year. Goodwin leads the Mustangs with a 70.00 stroke average on the season, and is a total of -21 on the season, posting four top-five finishes in six events.
Â
Meissner has finished 15

Â
Ollie Osborne joined Meissner and Goodwin as AAC All-Conference selections this season, and enters the event off of an 11
th-place finish in the conference championship. Osborne averages 73.00 strokes per round this season, and has shot at least even par in one-third of his rounds on the year.
Â
Nathan Petronzio was the AAC's Freshman of the Year, and is averaging 72.72 strokes per round this season. Petronzio has three top-20 finishes on the season, including a season-best tie for fourth at the Trinity Forest Invitational.
Â
Justin Thompson reenters the lineup for the first time since the season-opening Southwestern Invitational. Thompson, an all-region selection a season ago, is making his first appearance at the NCAA Regionals.
Dawson Ovard is the alternate for the event, holding a 74.21 stroke average on the season. In the NCAA Regionals, a player may be subbed into the lineup up to 10 minutes prior to a scheduled tee time.
Â
Joining the Mustangs in the Stillwater Region are hosts No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 9 Illinois, No. 15 Auburn, Notre Dame, Alabama, Baylor, Sam Houston, Little Rock, Ole Miss, Northwestern, College of Charleston and Middle Tennessee State. Individuals from 10 schools are also competing for a berth to the finals site, with the highest-finishing individual not on an advancing team earning the bid.
