DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU volleyball program has released its 2021 schedule.

Head Coach
Lisa Seifert's squad will begin its 30-match campaign with the inaugural SMU DoubleTree Invitational August 27-28. The Mustangs will welcome North Carolina, Pacific, and SFA to their home tournament, as North Carolina will make its first trip to Moody Coliseum. SMU will compete in the Rice Invite taking on the host school and Oregon. The following week the Mustangs will face off against Illinois, Creighton, and UNO in the Creighton Invite. SMU will clash with Oklahoma in Moody Coliseum on Sept. 16 and travel to in-state rival TCU on Sept. 18 to conclude the non-conference portion of its schedule.
SMU is looking to make its first trip to the NCAA tournament since 2016 where the team advanced to the second round after a 3-0 win over Texas A&M. SMU will face seven programs that were in one or both of the last two NCAA tournaments and five teams ranked in the RPI Top 50 last season. SMU will challenge teams from the ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12, and Big East on its non-conference slate.Â

th season at the helm as the second winningest coach in SMU coaching history with 415 total wins.
The Mustangs begin conference play by hosting Memphis on Sept. 22 and Temple on Sept. 24. Other notable home conference matchups include defending AAC Champion, UCF on Oct. 22 followed by a Halloween matchup with ECU. SMU will host Senior Day on Nov. 21 when Houston visits Moody Coliseum.
SMU has averaged 20 wins a year since joining the AAC and is the only program in the American to go .500 or better in league play every season. The Mustangs have many familiar faces returning to the court including four All-Conference honorees.

The American Athletic Conference adjusted the scheduling format for conference matches to include a 20-match double-round-robin regular season, which will determine the recipient of the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. The conference will not conduct a postseason championship in women's volleyball, effective in 2021.
