Night One Results
MINNEAPOLIS (SMU) – The Mustangs turned in five runner-up performances on night one of a two-day dual meet at No. 25 Minnesota.
In diving action,
Jaclynn Fowler led SMU with a second-place finish on 3 meter, posting a six-round 279.60.
In the pool,
Lucrezia Napoletano (50 free, 23.69),
Valentina Becerra (100 fly, 54.57) and
Maddy Lewis (100 breast, 1:05.08) finished second to lead the Mustangs in their respective events.
SMU's 400 free relay team of
Johanna Gudmundsdottir, Napoletano,
Indra Vandenbussche and
Tiffanie Ruan teamed up two finish second at 3:25.16 to pick up momentum heading into day two.
Hannah Lockyer joined Lewis in the 100 breast and finished third at 1:05.52, while Vandenbussche was third in the 200 free (1:52.04), reigning American Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week
Jenna Watson was third in the 200 IM (2:05.99) and
Jimena Leguizamon Leal was third in the 100 back (56.57).
In other relay action, the 200 medley team of
Kate Janzen, Lewis,
Maxine Parkinson and Vandenbussche opened the event with a third-place finish, coming in at 1:45.29.
The Mustangs trail in the team standings, 140-46.
