TULSA, Okla. – SMU gritted out a hard-fought five-set triumph (19-25, 25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 15-12) over Tulsa in American Athletic Conference action Friday at the Donald D. Reynolds Center.

In a complete team effort, 10 Mustangs recorded at least one kill and seven notched a dig.
Jadyn Bauss paced the team with 17 kills and 20 digs.

Knotted at 6-6 in the final game,
Marieke van der Mark slammed home a winner, giving SMU the lead for good.

The Golden Hurricane hit .343 in the opening game and closed with an 11-4 run, grabbing the early advantage with a 25-20 result.

After an eight-day layoff, SMU found its footing and moved in front 2-1, with a stingy defense. The Mustangs force 14 errors on 87 attempts by Tulsa, hitting .103. The Golden Hurricane eked out the win in the fourth and forcing a winner take all, claiming 10 of the final 16 rallies.

Coupled with wins by Houston and Wichita State, SMU, No. 23 UCF and the Shockers trail the Cougars in the standings. Houston owns a 5-0 mark, with the other three teams saddled with one defeat each.

- SMU improved to 11-6 overall and 4-1 in the conference, while the Golden Hurricane dropped to 9-6, 2-2.

- Graduate transfer MB London Austin-Roark recorded 12 kills on 24 swings, with no errors.
- She set a season high in kills, her 19th time with at least 10 in her career.
- Austin-Roark added five blocks.
- Graduate transfer OPP Marieke van der Mark tallied 12 kills and nine digs.
- She netted 10 or more kills eight times this season, including six contests in succession.
- Sophomore Kaitlyn, Knobbe added a career-high six kills, with three blocks.
- Junior S Celia Cullen tallied 43 assists and nine digs.
- Cullen accrued at least ten assists in 16 of 17 contests.
- Graduate transfer Tatum Ticknor tallied 26 digs and dished out eight helpers.
- Freshman OH Jentry Lamirand posted 12 digs, the most in her rookie campaign.
