Night One Results
DALLAS (SMU) – Valentina Becerra led the Mustangs on night one of the SMU Invite with an NCAA B cut and an all-time top performance in the 100-yard butterfly.
The senior went 52.90 for a career-best to win the 100 fly, making her the seventh fastest performer all-time at SMU in the event. The NCAA B cut puts her under the standard for the second consecutive season.
Maxine Parkinson also represented the Mustangs in the Championship Final of the event, finishing fourth in a career-best 54.05.
In diving action, the Mustangs picked up valuable points toward the team total on 1 meter as
Nicole Stambo (301.00) earned runner-up honors and
Jaclynn Fowler (286.70) finished fourth. Both continued to stay above the NCAA Zone standard.
The top finisher in the 200-yard individual medley was
Jenna Watson, coming in at a personal-best 2:01.32 for fourth. In the 50-yard freestyle,
Lucrezia Napoletano matched her career best at 23.03 for seventh.
Annabelle Corcoran led SMU in the 500-yard freestyle A Final with an eighth-place finish, covering the distance in 4:56.59, while
Frederica Kizek took home the top spot in the Consolation Final at 4:54.84.
