Mustangs Lead After Day Two Of SMU Invite

DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU men's swimming and diving team continues to lead in the team standings after two nights of the SMU Invitational. The three-day event is being held at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.

The Mustangs claimed the top three spots in the 400 IM finals. Colin Feehery touched the wall first at 43.82. Cotton Fields was the runner-up with a time of 3:46.24, and Angus Corbeau claimed third after swimming a 3:49.16. All three Mustangs earned NCAA B Standards.

Lance Butler and Evan McCormick achieved NCAA B Cuts in the 100 breaststroke. Butler's time of 53.83 earned a runner-up finish and McCormick's time of 54.04 placed third.

Feehery moved to fifth all-time on SMU's fastest performer list in the 100 breaststroke. In preliminary action, the senior covered the distance in 53.39.

Two Mustangs earned third place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle. Riley Hill swam a time of 47.78 in the 100 back and Sage Sungail touched the wall at 1:37.32 in the 200 free.

SMU's relay team consisting of Riley Hill, Lance Butler, Russell Exum and Justin Baker represented the Mustangs in the 200 medley relay and covered the distance in 1:26.15 to earn second place.

On the diving side, two Mustangs earned NCAA Zone Standards on 1 meter. Dominic Hoefer scored a 330.80 to earn a runner-up finish and Tyler Coffey's 306.25 landed him in fourth place.

The Mustangs return to action tomorrow for the final day of the SMU Invite. Prelims for the 1650 free, 200 back, 100 Free, 200 breast and 200 fly begin at 10 a.m. Platform diving will start at noon.
