SMU hosts Memphis on Sunday in the second meeting of the season for these programs. The Mustangs won 70-65 at Memphis on Jan. 20. SMU is 18-6 overall and 9-3 in the AAC after a 64-57 loss at Temple on Wednesday. SMU is 15-3 in the last 18 games, and receiving votes in the AP Top 25 and USA Today Coaches Poll.

SMU is 12-0 at Moody Coliseum this season and has won 14 straight at home overall. That is tied for the 10th-longest active home win streak in NCAA D-I. It is also the sixth longest in program history. The Mustangs are 33-4 at home since the start of the 2019-20 season.

At Temple, Michael Weathers scored a season-high 22 points and Marcus Weathers recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Zhuric Pehlps had 10 points in his first start as SMU played without Kendric Davis (injury) who averages 19.1 points (1st AAC) and 4.8 assists (3rd AAC). The Mustangs help Temple to 30.9% shooting, the second-lowest by an opponent this season.

Marcus Weathers was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Week on February 14. It was his second honor in the past three weeks. Weathers averaged 15.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while shooting 10-for-22 from the field, 3-of-7 on threes and 8-of-12 on free throws. He had 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists in the 85-83 victory over then-No. 6 Houston. He followed it up with 11 points and six rebounds in just 19 minutes in the 80-66 win at East Carolina.

SMU is leading The American in 3-pointers made (8.9, 52nd NCAA) and ranks second in the league for 3-point percentage (36.9%, 42nd NCAA). Three Mustangs are averaging at least 1.7 threes per game with Kendric Davis making 2.3 (7th AAC), Emmanuel Bandoumel at 2.2 (8th AAC) and Zach Nutall at 1.7. The Mustangs lead the AAC in defensive rebounds (28.7, 12th NCAA), rank third in scoring at 75.0 points, third in FG% (44.9%), fifth in FG% defense (39.8%, 27th NCAA) and third in FT% (74.6%). 

Kendric Davis is leading the AAC in scoring (19.1, 42nd NCAA) and free-throw percentage (87.3%, 31st NCAA). He is in the top five in the league in field-goal percentage (44.3%, 3rd AAC) and assists (4.8, 3rd AAC, 52nd NCAA). Davis is also ranked in the league for assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8, 6th AAC), 3FGs made (2.3, 7th AAC) and steals (1.4, 13th AAC). Marcus Weathers leads SMU in rebounding (7.1, 2nd AAC) and double-doubles (5, T-1st AAC). Michael Weathers is ranked in the AAC in blocked shots (1.1, 7th AAC), steals (1.5, 9th AAC) and rebounds (5.4, 15th AAC).

Kendric Davis was selected to the Naismith Trophy Midseason Team (1 of 30). He was also selected unanimous preseason All-American Athletic Conference First Team, named to the Naismith Trophy Watch List, the Wooden Award Preseason 50 Watch List, the Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Watch List and the Lute Olson Player of the Year Award Watch List. This season, he has been national player of the week (Jan. 3) and earned a total of eight AAC Weekly Honors (3x Player of the Week, 5x Weekly Honor Roll). Last season, he was unanimous All-AAC First Team as well as USBWA All-District and NABC All-District. Davis led the AAC in scoring (19.0) and assists (7.6, 4th NCAA) last season, and was the only player to lead his league in both. 

SMU is 12-0 at home this season, and has won 14 straight at Moody Coliseum (T-10th NCAA active streaks). The Mustangs have wins in 33 of the last 37 games at Moody Coliseum. SMU is 6-4 on the road this season, going 6-3 in the last nine away from Moody Coliseum.

• Franklin Agunanne has played in 15 games this season, totaling 13 points and 20 rebounds. He had 4 points, 3 rebounds and an assist in 9 minutes in the win at Memphis.

• Emmanuel Bandoumel is averaging 10.5 points while hitting 37.9% on 3FGs (53-140) and making 2.2 threes per game (8th AAC). • Isiah Jasey started 15 of the first 16 games (missed game at Tulsa, and suffered a season-ending right Achilles injury vs USF 1/12). He averaged 1.1 blocked shots (8th AAC at the time of injury) and 2.9 rebounds. He had a career-high 4 blocked shots in the win versus Dayton 12/8. Last season, he started 15 of 17 games. He finished 6th in the AAC in blocked shots (1.0) while adding 3.6 points and 3.8 rebounds in 18.1 minutes per contest.

• Stefan Todorovic (Nike Hoop Summit, Serbian U19 Team) is averaging 3.1 points and hitting 44.4% from three in his freshman season (16-36).

LAST GAME (L, 64-57 at Temple on Feb. 16): PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Tai Strickland had a career-high 27 points as Temple beat SMU 64-57 on Wednesday night. Jahlil White had 11 points for the Owls (14-9, 7-5 American Athletic Conference), who have won four straight at home. Nick Jourdain added 12 rebounds and three blocks. Zach Hicks had nine rebounds. Michael Weathers scored a season-high 22 points and had seven rebounds for the Mustangs (18-6, 9-3). Marcus Weathers added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Zhuric Phelps had 10 points. The Owls evened the season series against the Mustangs. SMU defeated Temple 69-61 on Jan. 29. SMU played the game without star guard Kendric Davis, who was out with an injury.

THE SERIES VS MEMPHIS (14-15 on Court) (+13-15 Official): SMU has won four of the last five and 10 of the past 13 matchups. The programs split last season with each winning at home. The Mustangs had won six straight with sweeps in 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 before dropping the only matchup in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. The Mustangs swept Memphis en route to the 2016-17 AAC title, opening conference play with a 58- 54 win at Memphis before rounding off the regular season with a 103-62 rout to claim the 
outright conference title on Senior Day. The Mustangs have lost 4 of the 14 matchups against Memphis since both teams joined The American. (+13-15 overall, 10-4 in AAC; win in 2013-14 later vacated)

LAST MEETING VS MEMPHIS (W, 70-62 at Memphis on Jan. 20) MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Kendric Davis had 20 points as SMU beat Memphis 70-62. Emmanuel Bandoumel had 13 points for SMU (14-4, 5-1 American Athletic Conference). Michael Weathers added 11 points and eight rebounds, and Marcus Weathers also had 11 points. Tyler Harris had 17 points for the Tigers (9-8, 3-4). Jalen Duren added 11 points and nine rebounds.

UP NEXT: The Mustangs host Tulsa on Wednesday, the play the return game at Houston on Sunday. The regular season finishes with home games against Cincinnati (March 3) and Tulane on March 6). 

BIG-SHOT BANDOUMEL: Emmanuel Bandoumel is shooting a career-high 37.9% on threes. He had a career-high six threes at East Carolina (2/12) and has has made four in a game six times this season (SMU 5-1). He hit a driving jumper with 0.2 on the clock for the 66-64 win at [-/rv] Dayton on Dec. 5, 2020. It was his second game winner. He previously hit a three that beat the shot-clock buzzer with 30 seconds left in overtime for a 73-72 victory over [20/19] Houston on Feb. 15, 2020. He also hit a three to beat the halftime horn in the 80-75 overtime loss to Missouri.

TWIN PAIRING: Marcus and Michael Weathers are one of just seven sets of twins playing on the same D-I team, and one of just 14 sets of brothers. The Weathers played together as freshmen at Miami (OH) for then- head coach John Cooper. After four seasons apart, they are playing together in their final collegiate season.

HEAD COACH TIM JANKOVICH... is in his sixth season at the helm at SMU after four seasons as the associate head coach. He is in his 39th season as a collegiate coach, and his 17th as a head coach. As a head coach, he is 276-182 (.603) [119-61 at SMU (.661), including 81-17 (.827) at Moody Coliseum (started 36-0, second best in NCAA history)]. That includes a 104-64 mark at ISU where his teams recorded four top-three finishes in the Missouri Valley, reached the conference tournament final three times and earned four NIT bids. As an assistant or head coach, his teams are 628-375 (.626) with six regular season conference championships, four league tournament titles, nine NCAA Tournament appearances and nine NIT bids. This is his 12th season as the leader of a Division I program, including five as head coach at Illinois State (2007-12) and four at North Texas (1993-97). The 2017-18 Mustangs started 13-6 with three wins over ranked opponents, topping No. 2 Arizona in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament, No. 14 USC at Moody Coliseum and No. 7 Wichita State on the road. In 2016-17, SMU finished 30-5 and No. 11 in the AP poll after winning The American regular season and tournament titles en route to the NCAA Tournament. In 2015-16, he coached the Mustangs to a 9-0 start as SMU was eventually the last unbeaten team in the country at 18-0, and winning the Las Vegas Classic title during the season-opening streak. The Mustangs went 25-5, finishing the season ranked No. 24 after reaching a high of No. 8. In 2014-15, the Mustangs claimed the AAC regular season and tournament championships en route to the NCAA Tournament. SMU was the top seed in the 2014 NIT, reaching the title game.

DAVID B. MILLER COURT: On Dec. 5, 2018, SMU named the Moody Coliseum court after David B. Miller, alumnus and vice-chair of the Board of Trustees. A two-time SMU graduate, Miller earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration from Edwin L. Cox School of Business. As an undergraduate, he was a three-year starter and letterman on the varsity basketball team and a member of the 1971-72 Southwest Conference Co-Championship team. Since 2011, Mr. Miller and his wife, Carolyn Lacy Miller, have given $20 million toward the expansion and renovation of Moody Coliseum as well as the construction of the Miller Event Center. He has served on the SMU Board of Trustees since 2008 and also serves as chairman of the Cox Executive Board. He is a recipient of Distinguished Alumni Awards from both the University and the Cox School. In 2009, Miller was honored with the Silver Anniversary Mustang Award by the SMU Lettermen's Association. He is also a recipient of the Methodist Health System Foundation's 2017 Folsom Leadership Award. Miller is a co-founder and partner of EnCap Investments L.P., a private equity firm based in Houston and Dallas. He also is the president of the David B. Miller Family Foundation, which he established in 2006. In addition to donating to academic and athletic programs at SMU, the Miller Family Foundation contributes to numerous charitable organizations. Carolyn Miller is vice president of the foundation. The Millers have been generous long-time donors to SMU. Their gifts have created the David B. Miller Endowed Professorship in Cox School of Business, the SMU-in-Taos Campus Center, the Don Jackson Center for Financial Studies in Cox and the EnCap Investments & LCM Group Alternative Asset Management Center, also in Cox, as well as numerous general university and school-specific scholarship funds. They also have provided support for the Crum Basketball Center, the men's basketball program and Circle of Champions in the Department of Athletics. Before establishing EnCap, Mr. Miller served as co-CEO of MAZE Exploration Inc., a Denver-based oil and gas company that he co-founded in 1981. Mr. Miller began his professional career with Republic National Bank of Dallas, ultimately serving as vice president and manager of the bank's wholly-owned subsidiary, Republic Energy Finance Corporation.
