DALLAS, Texas (SMU) -- The Mustangs head south for great competition this weekend at both the Texas Relays and Texas State. SMU will occupy two events at Texas Relays on Friday, March 25 with the rest of the team taking on the Bobcat Invitational Thursday through Saturday.Â
"Texas Relays and Texas State always provide high level competition," Head Coach A'Havahla Haynes said. "We are looking to see consistency in marks and times at the minimum. Our goals through these regular season competitions are to win our heats, flights, sections and, in doing so, realizing that new PBs should come when being engaged and competitive."Â
Olivia Dobson will compete in her first 100 Hurdles race of the season at Texas Relays on Friday at 9:35 a.m. and look to better her time for the heptathlon later in the season. Shortly after Dobson competes, Raelyn Roberson and Funminiyi Olajide will start their flight of the long jump at 10 a.m. One meet into outdoor season, Roberson is currently ranked third in the American Athletic Conference from her 5.98-meter jump at TCU.Â
The trio will join the rest of the team at Texas State for the rest of the weekend of competition following their events. Both Roberson and Olajide will compete in the 100 at Texas State and are ranked in the top ten in the conference for the event.Â
Each Mustang on the team will look to better their times and better their standings in the conference this weekend as the outdoor season progresses.Â
Action will begin at Texas State at 9 a.m. on Thursday with the Javelin.Â
