DALLAS - The SMU women's golf coaches will be hosting a variety of camps this upcoming summer for golfers looking to improve their game, experience life as a collegiate golfer at SMU, and, more than anything, have fun.
Â
The camps will be held at Trinity Forest Golf Club, the Coore & Crenshaw-designed home course of the SMU golf programs. Participants will learn from the SMU coaches, as well as both past and present Mustang golfers. Campers will also experience the state-of-the-art Payne Stewart SMU Golf Training Center which includes a driving range, short course, and short-game area.
Â
The program will host a Junior Camp for girls ages 6-12 from July 7-9. The camp will cost $600 and will be limited to the first 15 registrations. A $100 discount will be offered when signing up two or more campers in the SAME transaction. SMU faculty/staff along with Trinity Forest members will also receive $100 off when using the discount code SMUGLFSTAFF when checking out (*If the coupon code is used in conjunction with the above additional sibling discount, they WILL stack and BOTH discounts will be received).
Â
The Elite Camps, designed for girls 13 and older, will be held as single-day camps. Each day will focus on a different aspect of the game. The Ball Striking Camp will be held on June 4th and will concentrate on the full swing. The Short Game Camp will be held on June 25th and will focus on short game and putting. The Golf Course Management Camp will be held on July 16th and will focus on how Mustang golfers practice, keep statistics, and manage their mental game on the course. A last-minute Tune-up Camp will be held on August 20th, which will touch on all aspects of the game in order to prepare campers for their upcoming season. Each camp is $350 and open to the first 15 entries. The Elite Camps are intended for golfers who seek to play competitively in college, and who are focused on improving their game to achieve this goal. The Elite Camps will also take place at Trinity Forest Golf Club and the Payne Stewart SMU Golf Training Center.
Â
This season, the SMU Women's Golf team won the Badger Invitational and set a school record for lowest round versus par of -11 at the GCU Invitational. The Mustangs also claimed their fourth individual conference title, asÂ
