DALLAS- SMU Men's Tennis played its first tournament of the fall season at the Hilltop Fall Invitational hosted by the Mustangs this weekend. The Mustangs finished the tournament with 10 wins, three in doubles and seven in singles.

In the three rounds of doubles, Blaine Hovenier and Jordi Redelijk finished 2-1, winning their first and third match while dropping their second. Callaway Clark and Louis Cloud finished 1-2, winning their second match while dropping their first and third. 

In singles, Clark and Redelijk played in Group 1 for the Mustangs while Hovenier and Cloud played in Group 2. Cloud finished undefeated, 3-0, in the singles matches while Clark finished 2-1, Redelijk finished 1-1 and Hovenier finished 1-2.

"It was exciting to get the new collegiate season started," said head coach Grant Chen. "Great weekend as our four guys all got some wins and showed progress. I was encouraged by some of the doubles and certainly know we have some things to dial in. Physically and mentally, I was proud of how the guys competed. We will continue to build as four different guys will head on the road to the next event."

The Mustangs are in action again next week as they travel to San Antonio for the Road Runner Invitational Sep. 23-25.
