DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's swimming and diving team leads all three match-ups after night one of a two-day triple dual against competition from around the American Athletic Conference.

In her first meet as a Mustang,
Luana Alonso won the 100-yard butterfly, finishing just off the NCAA B standard at 53.81. Her time also makes her the 10th fastest Mustang all-time in the event.
Valentina Becerra was third in the event, touching in 56.11.
The Mustangs swept the 100-yard breaststroke to secure valuable points before the break.
Jenna Watson led the field at 1:03.52 with
Julia Yakushi (1:04.45) and
Ashley Lugbill (1:05.28) rounding out the top three.
Johanna Gudmundsdottir picked up first-place points for SMU, tying for the win in the 50-yard freestyle at 23.75.
Nicole Stambo posted a commanding victory on 1 meter, finishing nearly 50 points ahead of the runner-up at 297.30 and once again eclipsing the NCAA Zone qualifying mark.
Lucrezia Napoletano and Watson paced the Mustangs with runner-up finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard individual medley, respectively. Lugbill was third in the 400 IM.
The Mustangs opened the event with a 2-3 finish in the 400-yard medley relay led by
Indra Vandenbussche, Watson, Alonso and Gudmundsdottir at 3:46.17, and closed the night with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay from Napoletano, Vandenbussche,
Tiffanie Ruan and Gudmundsdottir in 3:24.15.
