GAINESVILLE, Fla. (SMU)- SMU won the doubles point but ultimately fell 4-3 to USF on Saturday in the consolation match of the ITA Kickoff Weekend.
 
SMU won the doubles point with Court 3 pair Antonio Muniz- Hidalgo and Liam Krall defeating Alvin Tudorica and Elijah Cham 6-3. Court 2 clinched the point as Jack Winkler and Julian Steinhausen defeated Bruno Oliveira and Thomas Pavlekovich 6-4, making the duo perfect throughout the weekend.

In singles, three of the six matches went to third sets. Muniz- Hidalgo had the only straight set victory for the Mustangs as he defeated Alvin Tudorica 6-3, 6-2 on Court 3. The Bulls closed in on the Mustangs lead as they picked up victories on Court 1 and 2 as Davide Tortora defeated Adam Neff 6-4, 6-3 and Erik Grevelius defeated Pranav Kumar 6-4, 7-5. Bruno Oliveira defeated Liam Krall 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (1) on Court 4 giving USF its first lead of the day.

Louis Cloud yet again gave hope to the Mustangs as he defeated Thomas Pavlekovich 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 on Court 6. Cloud went undefeated over the weekend and is now 6-0 in dual matches this season.

Julian Steinhausen won his opening set, 7-6 (4), over Elijah Cham but ultimately couldn't find a break in the third set losing 6-3, 6-2. USF went on to win the match 4-3 making them 4-4 in dual matches this season.

The Mustangs are back in action February 12^th at the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex to take on UTSA.
