DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU women's swimming and diving team posted three all-conference performances on night three of the American Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. The six-day event is being held at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium.

SMU closed the evening with its best conference finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay since winning the title in 2016. The Mustangs clocked in at a season-best 7:12.73, led by an impressive 1:45.61 split from Lucrezia Napoletano, the only sub-1:46.00 split of the night, to bring the team home. Valentina Becerra, Jenna Watson and Indra Vandenbussche joined Napoletano on the podium, with Becerra contributing a career-best leadoff split of 1:49.07.

Nicole Stambo posted an all-league performance in the lone individual event of night three, using a season-best 267.10 to finish third on platform. The total bested a season mark of 266.70 posted in the day's prelims.

In addition to the performance on platform, Stambo finished the event with a championship on 1 meter, the third straight in the event and fourth overall AAC title of her career, and a top-five finish on 3 meter. She is qualified for the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in all three events, taking place March 7-9 in Minneapolis.

The Mustangs opened the swimming portion of the championships with a season-best performance in the 200-yard medley relay as Kate Janzen, Maddy Lewis, Luana Alonso and Johanna Gudmundsdottir combined for a 1:39.42 and third place.

The top-three finishes in each event will be awarded All-American Athletic Conference honors.
