Night Five Results

DALLAS (SMU)- Three Mustangs won individual titles and SMU's 400 medley relay claimed the top spot on night five of the American Athletic Conference Championships at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMillion Natatorium Friday.

SMU holds an 899-772 lead over Cincinnati in the team score heading into the final day of action.

The Mustangs swept the podium in the 100 breaststroke. Three Mustangs earned NCAA B Cuts in the event. After moving to sixth on SMU's all-time fastest performer list in the event during preliminary action, Lance Butler dropped his time to a career-best 53.15 on the way to winning gold.

Joe Rusnock covered the distance in a career-best 53.48, and Evan McCormick finished third after swimming a 53.62.

Colin Feehery started the night setting a meet record in the 400 IM after clocking in at 3:42.99. Feehery won his fourth consecutive conference championship in the event and earned an NCAA B Standard. Cotton Fields and Angus Corbeau earned B Cuts in the same event. Fields was the runner-up after covering the distance in 3:45.60 and Corbeau placed fourth with a career-best time of 3:48.74.

Sage Sungail and Jack Forrest posted career-best times in a 1, 2-finish in the 200 freestyle. Sungail won his first individual conference title after clocking in at 1:36.18, and Forrest was the runner-up, touching the wall at 1:37.56.

Riley Hill, Feehery, Russell Exum and Butler were crowned conference champions in the 400 medley relay, covering the distance in 3:08.94.

A pair of Mustangs notched NCAA B Standards in the 100 butterfly. Russell Exum finished second place after swimming a 46.82, and Jack Easton clocked in at 47.17 to earn third.

Hill (47.80) and Cole Bruns (48.69) placed 2, 3 in the 100 backstroke.

The sixth and final day of action starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
