FORT WORTH, Texas (SMU)- No. 62 SMU women's tennis came up short 4-1 to No. 56 TCU Saturday afternoon in a Metroplex dual match at the Bartzen Varsity Courts.

The Mustangs dropped the doubles point then surrendered three singles matches leading to the loss. Hadley Doyle picked up her 23rd match of the season with a straight set victory on Court 1 resulting in the Mustangs lone point.

The Horned frogs got off to a hot start taking Courts 2 and 3 quickly in doubles. Destinee Martins and Tiphanie Lemaitre struck first as they defeated Drew Morris and Maja Makoric 6-2

Jade Otway and Mercedes Aristegui gave Hadley Doyle and Lana Mavor their fourth loss of the season as they clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory.

The No. 37 duo of Taylor Johnson and Jackie Nylander had a ranked matchup against the No. 67 duo of Helena Narmont and Yu-Chin Tsia on Court 1. The SMU duo was up 5-3 before Otway and Aristegui took Court 2 halting play, leaving the match unfinished. Johnson and Nylander still hold their 6-3 overall record.

TCU inched further ahead 2-0 after Destinee Martins notched a pair of 6-3 sets over Jackie Nylander taking Court 4.

The momentum briefly appeared to shift in favor of the Mustangs as Hadley Doyle took Court 1 over Tiphanie Lemaitre. Doyle took the opening set in a dominate 6-1 win. Lemaitre fought back in the second after being down 5-2. Doyle would notch her first victory since Mar. 5 with a 6-4 win to clinch the Mustangs first point.

Helena Narmont then knotted the scoreboard at 3-1 after a 7-6 (8), 6-2 defeat over Maja Makoric on Court 6.

The Mustangs would now demand three singles victories in a row to clinch the match.

TCU clinched the match after Drew Morris lost a close battle to Jade Otway, 6-4, 7-5. The loss resulted in Morris' third loss of the season resulting in a 10-3 overall record.

The Mustangs will return to the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex for a ranked conference matchup against No. 68 Tulsa on Apr. 1 at 5 p.m.
