STILLWATER, Okla.- No. 75 SMU men's tennis fell 4-3 to No. 29 Oklahoma State, on Sunday afternoon inside the Greenwood Tennis Center. The Mustangs lost the doubles point then fought back to win three singles matches, but ultimately came up short in the road battle.

"Smallest margins separate teams in sports. We have come up short a few times this season, but we are developing and getting better," said head coach Grant Chen. "Adam Neff played one of his best matches, getting a very good three set win at the top spot. Liam & PK both did get with straight set singles victories. Our best is still ahead of us as we prepare for the conference."

SMU lost the doubles point with losses on Courts 2 and 3. Liam Krall and Antonio Muniz-Hidalgo fell 6-0 on their debut match on Court 2. The duo picked up only their second loss of the season together. The new pairing of Kyle Sillman and Julian Steinhausen fell on Court 3 6-2 giving OSU the first point of the day.

In singles play, three out of the six matches went to third sets. OSU got on the board first, winning in straight sets as Antonio Muniz-Hidalgo fell on Court 4 6-4, 6-4. Liam Krall responded with a straight set victory on Court 2, 6-4, 6-2.

Momentum shifted back to the Cowboys as Louis Cloud fell in a third set on Court 6. Cloud lost the first set 6-3. Cloud thoroughly dominated play in the second set as he won 6-0. In the deciding third set, Cloud fell 6-2, as OSU went in front 3-1.

Pranav Kumar closed in on the Mustangs second point with a straight set victory on Court 3. Kumar eased past in a 6-2, 7-6 (5) victory.

Adam Neff came up just short in the first set as he fell in 7-2 in a tiebreaker. Neff got out in front with a quick break in the second set winning 6-2, tying his match. Neff would power through another early break and win the third set 6-2 on Court 1, tying the score 3-3.

Julian Steinhausen lost his opening set 7-5. Steinhausen then won his second 6-1 forcing a deciding third set with the score tied up. Steinhausen couldn't find a break in the third set resulting in a 6-2 loss and Oklahoma State winning the dual, 4-3.

SMU is now 6-6 in dual play this season.

The Mustangs will return home to the Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex on March 7 to take on No. 52 Old Dominion at 12:00 p.m. This will be the first of five consecutive home matches for SMU.
