MINNEAPOLIS (SMU) – With his ninth place finish on 3-meter diving, Peter Smithson propelled himself into the NCAA Championships for both 3-meter and 1-meter diving.

Smithson finished ninth place with a combined prelim and final score of  722.05, qualifying the senior for the NCAA Championships. Smithson now also qualifies on 1-meter with his top-12 performance on Tuesday. Smithson will be the first Mustang diver to qualify for the NCAA Championships all four years since Bryce Dumais (2000-2003).

Smithson won titles in all three diving events at the 2023 AAC Conference Championships and was named Most Outstanding Diver for the fourth consecutive season.

Dominic Hoefer and Tyler Coffey competed in Wednesday's 3-meter competition. Hoefer finished 21st (301.10) and Coffey checked in 22nd (283.15).

Smithson will compete in Thursday's Platform competition. Preliminary action is slated to start at 3:15, with finals to follow.
