The SMU equestrian team has added Baylor Western transfer Shelby Clausen to the Mustang roster. 

"We are super excited to have Shelby joining our reining squad next year," head coach Carol Gwin said. "She has had a great record in collegiate riding and will be a great asset to the team as both an awesome teammate and a competitor."

Clausen, who spent three seasons competing at Baylor, is a Cave Creek, Arizona native, and will be a senior at SMU next season.  

"We are delighted to welcome Shelby to the team here at SMU Equestrian," associate head coach Brad Kearns said. "She has been very successful in collegiate equestrian as well as showing in NRHA.  Shelby brings vast experience to the team as well as being such a kind, supportive teammate . She adds new depth to our team and we are excited to have her as an addition to SMU Equestrian."

While at Baylor, Clausen was an NCEA Second-Team Reining All-American, and an All-Big 12 Reining Team member. She was named a Second-Team Academic All-Big 12 selection, and an NCEA Academic Honorable Mention team member in 2021-22.
