WACO, Texas (NCEA/SMU) – SMU Equestrian ranked second in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association's preseason coaches poll, announced in a release by the association on Tuesday.
SMU finished the 2024-25 season with a 12-5 record, posting an unblemished 7-0 home mark. The Mustangs made their third-straight appearance in the NCEA Championship title meet after defeating UT-Martin in the first round and South Carolina in the semifinals. SMU, ultimately, fell to Georgia, the top-ranked team in the preseason poll.
Claiming the next three spots on the list were Auburn, South Carolina and Texas A&M, respectively. All but one of SMU's upcoming regular-season opponents ranked eighth or higher in the NCEA's preseason coaches poll.
The Mustangs will begin the 2025-26 season on the road against No. 4 South Carolina on September 26.
