KANSAS CITY, Mo. (United Soccer Coaches/SMU) – The SMU women's soccer team is receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches' national top-25 preseason poll, the association announced on Tuesday.
The Mustangs are one of only two American Athletic Conference programs either ranked or receiving votes.
SMU is set for its second year under Head Coach
Nicole Nelson after a 10-4-5 inaugural campaign in 2022, a year that concluded with an AAC Conference Tournament Championship appearance. The Mustangs open the 2023 year with a trip to Fort Worth to take on the preseason ranked No. 9 TCU.
SMU's battle with the Horned Frogs will be its first of four matchups against teams ranked in the preseason poll throughout the 2023 season.
United Soccer Coaches college rankings, released every Tuesday during the regular season, are an indicator of the week-to-week status of qualified programs. To be eligible for consideration in United Soccer Coaches college rankings, a school must be a member of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program.
