Mackenzie Lee was named to the Annika Award Preseason Watch List announced by the Haskins Foundation on Monday.

The Annika Award is given annually to the top female Division I collegiate golfer. Named for Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the best female golfer as voted on by players, coaches and members of the college golf media.

Lee is coming off one of the best seasons in program history. She led the team in six of 12 tournaments and posted the second-best scoring average in SMU history (71.78). She also was one of three Mustangs to break the single-season record for rounds of par or better as she finished with 23, topping the previous mark of 19. Her best finish of the season came in her fifth collegiate tournament, a second place showing at the Hurricane Invitational where the Mustangs took home a team title. Lee broke the SMU record for lowest round ever by a Mustangs with a nine-under performance at the Icon Invitational. That would kickstart a streak of three-straight top-five finishes for the North Little Rock, Arkansas native. She earned all-conference honors as the Mustangs captured their first conference title since 1992. She posted her sixth top-five finish of the season on the biggest stage to date, the NCAA San Antonio Regional, helping the Mustangs capture a shared team title and advance to the NCAA Championship. At the Championship, Lee and the Mustangs would go on to finish in 11
th, their best finish since 1986. Lee was named honorable mention All-American by the WGCA for her standout season.
Lee's performance would help the Mustangs to six tournament titles including five in a row. With Lee returning for her sophomore season, the Mustangs came into the 2023-24 season with a No. 20 preseason ranking.
