WACO, Texas (SMU) – SMU women's soccer capped off its three-game road stint with a 2-1 victory over Baylor on Thursday at Betty Lou Mays Field.

"Tonight was a great response from our team to get a road win against a very good team," said Head Coach Nicole Nelson. "We had a lot of people step in and perform up to their potential. We are proud of everyone's focus and grit."

Senior Leah Chancey scored the first goal of her career in the 60th minute to put SMU up 2-0 and serve as the eventual game winner for the Mustangs. Chancey's score lifted over the fingers of Baylor's Ashlee Zirkel into the top of the net. Freshman Nyah Rose recorded her first career assist on the play.
Rose scored SMU's first goal of the night off an assist from Tori Peterson. Rose bodied the pass before turning and firing past Zirkel and into the top left of the net.
Rose's goal in the 53rd minute marks her fifth goal of the season. She entered Thursday's match ranked 1st in the AAC and 14th nationally in goals-per-game (1).
