DALLAS (SMU)-- SMU volleyball announced its 2024 spring schedule, highlighted by the inaugural Dallas Power Invite on April 20 in Moody Coliseum.
SMU welcomes Houston and Oklahoma for the tournament. The Mustangs host the Cougars at 1 p.m. and the Sooners at 5 p.m. Houston and Oklahoma will play between SMU's matches. Tickets can be purchased at https://smumustangs.evenue.net/events/ATH-VB.
The Mustangs start the spring in Moody Coliseum with a matchup against North Texas on April 6 at 10 a.m. Next, SMU will face TCU in the first of two meetings this spring on Friday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in Fort Worth.
SMU closes out spring play with a doubleheader in Waco against Baylor and TCU on April 27.
SMU's 2023 season was one for the record books.
Sam Erger was named the 2023 American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year after the Mustangs finished the season with a 26-7 overall record and won the AAC championship. SMU finished league play with an 18-1 record, marking the best conference winning percentage in program history (.947), and won the program's first league title since 2016. The Mustangs rode a 15-match win streak into the NCAA Tournament and entered as a No. 7 seed after seven straight sweeps. SMU swept Texas State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to finish the month of November without dropping a set.
Five Mustangs garnered All-AAC honors, and two were AVCA All-Region Selections, including the American's Player of the Year,
Emma Clothier, Setter of the Year,
Celia Cullen, and Libero of the Year,
Sina Uluave.
Jamison Wheeler was named a First-Team selection, and
Natalie Perdue earned a spot on the Second-Team. Clothier and Cullen both earned All-Region honors.
