CHARLOTTE (The ACC/SMU) – SMU safety Isaiah Nwokobia was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Defensive Back of the Week in a release by the conference on Monday.
 
The Dallas native posted a career-best 13 tackles in the thrilling overtime win at Duke this past Saturday.
 
Nwokobia was one of several defensive players to make clutch plays late that kept the Blue Devils from getting into the end zone after forcing several turnovers from the Mustang offense.
 
This is the first career weekly award he was received from the conference.
 
SMU returns to action to host No. 18 Pitt on Saturday at 7 p.m. CT at Gerald J. Ford Stadium.
