DALLAS (SMU) – SMU women's tennis is set to compete in the TCU Jae Foundation Fall Open from Thursday to Sunday in Fort Worth at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
The entire SMU team will take part in the event for the Mustangs in the final invitational before the ITA Conference Masters, ITA Sectional Championships, and NCAA Championships to close out the fall season.
The event will showcase 17 programs, 12 of which qualified for the NCAA Championships last season, including SMU, BYU, Notre Dame, Arizona, Illinois, Maryland, Rice, Texas A&M, Northwestern, Wisconsin, Baylor, Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Kansas, and LSU.
Following the invitational, SMU will have two more opportunities to qualify for the NCAA Individual Championships in November.
The ITA Conference Masters (Nov. 7-10) will have a draw size of 32 singles and 32 doubles, with the four singles semifinalists and the top three doubles teams qualifying for NCAAs. The ITA Sectional Championship (Nov. 7-10) will have a draw size of 32 singles and 16 doubles – six singles players from each section (24 total) and three doubles teams from each section (12 total) will qualify for the NCAAs.
The NCAA Individual Championship will occur from Nov. 19-24 at Baylor.
