NORMAN, Okla. (SMU) - SMU men's golf was ranked No. 17 in the final fall edition of the Bushnell/Golfweek Division I Coaches Poll.
Â
The Mustangs made the leap from receiving votes to No. 17 in the coaches poll thanks to a pair of top three finishes in their last two tournaments. The Mustangs placed in third in a 15-team field at the Trinity Forest Invitational. They then finished in second at the Stephens Cup, one of the premier events of the college golf fall calendar.
Â
Junior
Zachary Kingsland finished in first at the Trinity Forest Invitational with a 15-under score. Kingsland was the first Mustang tournament winner since
Matthew Foster at the Fallen Oak Invitational in 2023. Junior
Will Sides made it back-to-back tournaments with an individual winner for the Mustangs. Sides won the Stephens Cup with a playoff victory. Sides had to sink a 12-foot putt to put himself in the playoff. A birdie on the first playoff hole gave him the individual title.
