// SMU BEGINS THREE-GAME HOMESTAND BY FACING LAMAR
The SMU women's basketball program continues its inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) by hosting Lamar on Friday at 4:30 pm CT inside Moody Coliseum. Fans can watch the game on ACCNX or listen on the radio through the SMU Mobile App.

The Mustangs will look to bounce back on their home court after losing both their road games last weekend at the Briann January Classic in Tempe, Ariz., to Arizona State and Minnesota. SMU is 2-1 inside Moody Coliseum this season.

Friday's game is the first of a double-header as the SMU men's basketball team takes on Mississippi State at 7:30 p.m. Fans with a ticket to the men's game will receive free admission to the women's game. Fans can also receive free admission to the game by bringing in a non-perishable food item that will be donated to the North Texas Food Bank.

Guard Nya Robertson has been turning heads all season long as she enters the game ranked 7th in the NCAA and 3rd in the ACC in points per game (23.8). The star guard has scored over 20 points in four of the team's five games this season. She also ranks in the top five nationally in four other offensive categories.

Robertson is also 25 points away from 1,000 in her career and is on pace this season to be the first Mustangs to average over 20 points a game since Keena Mays averaged 21.6 ppg during the 2013-14 season.

The ACC has posted 57 victories through the non-conference portion of the regular season, as 10 of the league's 18 teams currently hold a positive scoring margin above 20.0 points.  Five teams are ranked in the latest Associated Press (AP) Poll, as Notre Dame leads the way, remaining at No. 6 following its perfect 4-0 start. Duke is No. 14, North Carolina is No. 16, NC State is No. 20 and Louisville is No. 25. Stanford, Florida State and Miami are currently receiving votes.

SMU is in its fourth season under head coach Toyelle Wilson. The Mustangs are 47-47 under Wilson and have made the WNIT twice during her tenure.  She holds a career record of 102-90 in seven seasons of head coaching.

Saturday's game will be the seventh overall meeting between SMU and Lamar and the first since 2013. The Mustangs have won the past two games and are 3-0 at home versus the Cardinals. Last time the two teams played SMU won 82-79 playing the game at the Curtis Culwell Center. Last time the game was played in Moody Coliseum was in 1996 as SMU won 85-69.

// HOME SWEET HOME
Friday's game begins SMU's second three-game non-conference homestand of the season. The Mustangs host Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Monday (11/25) and conclude the homestand against UT Arlington on Friday (11/29), the day after Thanksgiving.

After defeating Western Michigan in their last home game, the Mustangs are 24-10 at home over the last three seasons. The Mustangs have won four of their previous five home non-conference games dating back to last season. SMU is 24-17 in non-conference games under Wilson.

// SECOND CHANCE OPPORTUNITIES

// HARD EARNED POINTS

This season she is 22-of-25 from the line and ranks sixth in the ACC and 36th in the NCAA in made foul shots. Her foul line percentage of 88.0 leads the team and also ranks 8th in the ACC.

Her 10 free throws made against ODU were the most made by a Mustang since Tiara Young went 18-22 from the stripe against Memphis last season on Jan. 1, 2024.

Embry scored in double digits over the past five games and recorded a season-high of 18 points, and secured eight rebounds against ODU. She currently ranks second on the team in both points and rebounds (13.8 ppg / 6.4 rpg).

// DEFENSE LEADS SMU VICTORY
The Mustang's defensive abilities were on full display against Western Michigan as the team forced 33 turnovers and tallied 18 steals. The 33 turnovers forced are tied for the second most forced in a game in program history (33 vs Georgia, 11/25/95) and were the most forced since the team set the program record of 35 against San Jose State (1/15/00).
