DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Football continued its climb up the rankings in the most recent polls on Sunday after a stellar performance in the home finale against Cal on Saturday, winning 38-6.
The Mustangs moved up one spot in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, coming in at eighth. They also rose up two spots in the US LBM Coaches Poll, finishing at seventh.
The No. 7 ranking the AP poll is the highest SMU has been since 1985.
The Mustangs were the highest-ranked team in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
This marks the ninth straight week SMU has appeared in both polls.
A 38-6 victory against the Golden Bears gave the Mustangs back-to-back 11-win seasons for the first time in program history.
SMU became just the sixth program in ACC history to go at least 8-0 in conference play since the conference went to eight-game schedules in 1992.
