Box Score DALLAS (SMU) —No. 39 SMU women's tennis defeated Texas A&M Corpus Christi 4-1 on Wednesday, with freshman Caroline McGinley earning her third clinch of the year in route to the Mustangs' victory.
The Mustangs quickly took the first point of the match in doubles play.
Lana Mavor and Taylor Johnson, now ranked No. 27 by the ITA, defeated Emma Aucagne and Naomi Moi Mckenzie on court one (6-2).
McGinley and Maja Makoric also paired to defeat their Islanders' doubles opponents, 6-2, clinching the first point for SMU.
2023 AAC Player of the Year Hadley Doyle notched her sixth win of the season in straight sets during singles play. Doyle was the first to finish, earning the win over Ana Veroux — 6-1, 6-3.
Johnson also won in straight sets over Aucagne during their singles dual (6-2, 6-4).
McGinley secured her third clinch of the year in the Mustangs' twelfth win of the season, previously clinching against LSU and Wichita State. She secured her latest win over Victoire Delattre, 6-0, 4-6, 6-1.
"It's been really nice," McGinley said. "You're out there for more than yourself so doing it for the other girls is the best feeling in the world."
