Glass Family Makes $1 Million Gift to Support SMU Student-Athletes

Gift will directly support the department’s RevShare-related Student-Athlete Benefit Fund

DALLAS (October 1, 2025) – SMU Athletics is proud to announce a $1 million gift from Doyle and Somer Glass to the Student-Athlete Benefit Fund, a critical resource that supports SMU's ability to remain competitive in the evolving landscape of college athletics. This gift - the first seven-figure contribution toward SMU's RevShare-related fundraising initiatives - underscores the Glass family's unwavering commitment to Mustang student-athletes and the University's broader mission.

Doyle Glass, a current member of the Mustang Club Board and Meadows School of the Arts Executive Board, and his wife Somer have long been champions of SMU. Their generosity has shaped several key projects across campus, including support for the Washburne Soccer & Track Stadium, the Garry Weber Endzone Complex, and the ACC Competitiveness Campaign, as well as contributions to the Meadows School of the Arts.

"The Glass family has consistently answered the call at pivotal moments in our history," said SMU Director of Athletics Damon Evans. "Their latest gift is not only a powerful endorsement of our student-athletes, it's a forward-looking investment in the future of SMU Athletics. We're incredibly grateful for their vision and leadership."

The Student-Athlete Benefit Fund, created in response to the NCAA's evolving revenue-sharing model and NIL landscape, plays a central role in supporting SMU's ability to provide direct financial benefits to student-athletes while sustaining the department's momentum in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

SMU also extends gratitude to the many supporters of the Boulevard Collective and Pony Sports DTX Collective, who stepped forward during the NIL era and helped lay the foundation for today's opportunities.

Now, the Student-Athlete Benefit Fund provides a fully tax-deductible option for donors to contribute directly to SMU for the purpose of supporting student-athletes. More information, including opportunities to give, can be found at https://www.smu.edu/giving/student-athlete-benefit-fund.
