TULSA, Okla (SMU) – SMU men's golf finished in 10
th place at the Clerico from Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa.
The Mustangs came into the day in ninth place after completing two rounds. Several teams still had to finish the end of their second rounds on Tuesday morning. After all round twos were completed, the Mustangs were in eighth place. Battling wet conditions all day, the Mustangs shot 31-over in the final round and ended play at 53-over. The result saw the Mustangs take home 10
th place among a field that included eight ranked teams.
Playing in his hometown,
Will Sides led the Mustangs for the third time this fall. He finished in seventh place at four-over par. Sides carded rounds of 73, 69 and 72. He finishes the fall with a team-best 69.67 scoring average.
Zachary Kingsland finished in 38
th place at 16-over par. His best round came with a 71 in round two and he added an eagle during the first round.
Gabe Post finished in a tie for 41
st after an 80 in round three. Post shot a 72 in round two. Two shots back of Posts sat
Ben Steinmann. In his first appearance in the primary lineup, the freshman shot 20-over across the two days with a 72 in round one. Senior
Christian Clark finished in a tie for 54
th.
The Mustangs now enter winter break. Their next tournament is the Southwestern Invitational hosted by Pepperdine Jan. 26-28.
