SETTING THE SCENE
• The Mustangs are returning to Ford Stadium this upcoming Saturday to take on ACC opponent Stanford.
• SMU is coming off a conference home win against Syracuse on Oct. 4, defeating the Orange 31-18.
Kevin Jennings is coming off an elite performance against Syracuse, passing for 285 yards with a career-high four touchdowns.
• Also a career best, Jennings had 16 straight completions during the game, ranking second in SMU history.
RJ Maryland caught a 16-yard touchdown pass, extending the program record for most receiving touchdowns by a tight end to 19.  

QUICK HITS
• SMU has won its last 18 conference regular-season contests dating back to 2022, which is the longest active streak in the nation. 
• The Mustangs have been explosive this year, recording nine offensive scoring drives in 2025 that have resulted in touchdowns in under two minutes.
• SMU has put up the points in its last 18 home games, averaging 47.1 points per game during the 18-game span dating back in 2022 while posting a record of 16-2. 
• The SMU defense has been opportunistic to start 2025, ranking second in FBS in passes intercepted (9), third in turnovers gained (12), fourth in defensive touchdowns (2) and sixth in red zone defense (0.667).
Romello Brinson currently ranks in the top 10 in the ACC in receiving yards per game (2nd, 87.2), receiving yards (3rd, 436) and receiving touchdowns (5th, 3).
• SMU's 57 wins in the last six years are the most by any FBS team in the state with Texas. In addition, the Mustangs have won 25 of those on the road, tops for any team in the state since 2019.
• The Mustangs are 23-6 in their last 29 games, and 22-3 in their last 25 regular-season contests.
• SMU has posted a record of 28-3 during Lashlee's four seasons in charge when they score 30-or-more points in a game.
• The Mustangs have had at least seven receivers catch a pass in 33 of the past 36 games.
Rhett Lashlee boasts a 22-3 conference record in his career. His 22-3 record in his first 25 league games on the Hilltop is the best in SMU history.
• SMU entered the year ranked 16th in both the US LBM Coaches and Associated Press Preseason Polls, its highest preseason rank since 1985.
Isaiah Nwokobia has been recognized as one of the premier safeties in the country heading into 2025, being named preseason All-America by multiple publications (Athlon Sports, Phil Steele, Sporting News and Walter Camp). 
• Nwokobia has also appeared on numerous watch lists including the Paycom Jim Thorpe Award, Bronco Nagurski Trophy, Chuck Bednarik Award, Senior Bowl and East-West Shrine Bowl. 
Kevin Jennings looks to build on his breakout campaign last year, being selected to several premier watch lists that include the Maxwell Award, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, Davey O'Brien Award, Manning Award, East-West Shrine Bowl and the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award.

THE SERIES
• This is the third meeting between SMU and Stanford.
• The teams last met in 2024 with the Mustangs defeating the Cardinal 40-10.

ABOUT THE CARDINAL
• Stanford has gone 2-3 in 2025, going 1-1 against ACC opponents.
• The Cardinal is coming off a bye week.
• Most recently, Stanford defeated San Jose State 30-29 on Sept. 27.

THE COACHES
Rhett Lashlee is in his fourth season as the head coach at SMU and has a 32-14 career record, with 29 wins the second most for a head coach in his first three years in program history. Lashlee, who served as offensive coordinator for the Mustangs for two seasons (2018-19), also served as the offensive coordinator at Miami in 2020 and 2021. A one-time finalist (2013) and two-time semifinalist (2019, 2020) for the Broyles Award, Lashlee has the distinction of being the only coach ever nominated for the Broyles Award four different times at four different schools (Arkansas State, Auburn, SMU, Miami).

• Lashlee was named a finalist last season for the prestigious Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year Award, handed out the nation's top coach as voted on by the National Sports Media Association, the Bryant Awards' Executive Leadership Team, and the Bryant Family. The Arkansas native was also named Coach of the Year by Dave Campbell's Texas Football publication, a finalist of the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award, and a semi-finalist for the George Munger National Coach of the Year.

• Frank Reich is in his first season as Stanford's interim head coach, being named to the role on March 31, 2025

MUSTANG CAPTAINS
Kevin Jennings, Alexander Kilgore, Ahmaad Moses, Isaiah Nwokobia, Logan Parr and PJ Williams were named captains for the 2025 season. 

SOMETHING SPECIAL GOING ON HERE
• The Mustangs have been a force in conference play over the last three seasons. 
• SMU has posted a 22-3 record against conference opponents since 2022, highlighted by the current 18-game winning streak. 
• The 18 straight conference wins breaks the program record set back from 1981 to 1982. 
• The winning streak is the longest active streak in the nation with Oregon trailing at 17.
