TYLER, Texas (SPORTyler/SMU) - SMU wide receiver Yamir Knight and running back Derrick McFall have been named honorable mentions for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday.
Knight put up an explosive performance in the Mustangs' 45-13 victory over Boston College. Making seven catches for a career-high 162 yards and a touchdown, the junior recorded the most receiving yards by a Mustang in a game since Rashee Rice (180) at Tulsa on Oct. 29, 2022.Â
His performance against Boston College was the second 100-yard receiving game of Knight's career. The Delaware native is now the third Mustang with a 100-yard receiving game this season, joining Jordan Hudson and Romello Brinson.
McFall heavily contributed to SMU's powerful run game against the Eagles, recording five catches for 64 yards and a career-high three rushing touchdowns. The Tyler, Texas native's performance is the second time this season a player has rushed for three touchdowns in a game. Prior to the start of the season, McFall was named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List.
