Volleyball Earns No. 2 Seed, Hosts Central Arkansas Friday

Second Consecutive Season Hosting First & Second Round of NCAA Tournament

DALLAS (SMU) – For the second straight season, SMU Volleyball was selected as a No. 2 and the No. 5 overall seed for the NCAA Tournament, announced on the NCAA Volleyball Selection Show, which aired on ESPN Sunday night. The Mustangs will host the first and second rounds for the second time in program history at Moody Coliseum this Friday and Saturday. 

The Mustangs, making their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and their fifth in program history, will open the tournament on Friday, Dec. 5, at 6:30 p.m. against Central Arkansas (18-11), the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) champions. The 4 p.m. match will feature Florida (15-11) of the Southeastern Conference and 7-seed Rice (21-9) out of the American Athletic Conference (AAC). Friday's winners will meet in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m.

SMU enters postseason play on a nine-match winning streak and with a 25-5 record in its second season in the Power Four. The Mustangs finished league play 17-3. SMU is looking to win its fourth opening-round matchup of the NCAA Tournament and advance past the second round for the first time in the team's history. The Mustangs have four previous tournament appearances, posting a 3-4 record overall. SMU has won its last three first-round matchups in 2016, 2023 and 2024.

First Round – Friday, Dec. 5
4 p.m. – Florida vs. No. 7 Rice (ESPN+)
6:30 p.m.* – No. 2 SMU vs. Central Arkansas (ESPN+)

*or 30 minutes following the conclusion of the 4:00 p.m. match
 
Second Round – Saturday, Dec. 6
7 p.m. – First Round Winners (ESPN+)
