LEXINGTON, Ky. (SMU/AVCA.org) – Graduate opposite Malaya Jones has been named AVCA Division I Player of the Week for the second time this season, announced by the organization on Tuesday. It's the second honor of the week for Jones as she was named to the All-ACC First Team on Monday.
Jones averaged 5.56 kills per set, which ranked ninth in the country, and 6.61 points per set ranking fourth this week in SMU's two wins this week. She registered 50 kills and 59.5 points in the two matches, ranking third and second in the nation respectively. Jones put up these numbers while hitting .389.
In the Mustangs' win over NC State, Jones broke the program's rally scoring record for most kills in a season. She finished with 27 kills and 17 digs in the win over the Wolfpack, while logging 23 kills and 10 digs in the first match last week versus Florida State.
