CHARLOTTE, N.C. (ACC/SMU) – SMU guard B.J. Edwards was named ACC Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced on Monday. Edwards recorded his second triple-double of the season in Sunday's win and is the only player in the nation with multiple triple-doubles this season.
 
Edwards helped the Mustangs get to 11-2 on the season with 21 points, 10 assists, a career-high 11 rebounds and five steals in the 110-63 win over Cal State Fullerton on Sunday. He shot 8-for-10 from the floor and 3-for-5 on threes in the victory. The triple-double is just the seventh in SMU history and the 43^rd in ACC history. He had 24 points, 13 assists and an SMU-record 10 steals for his first triple-double on Nov. 21 in the 100-69 triumph versus Arkansas State. Edwards and Duke's Cameron Boozer (three times) are the only players to win ACC Player of the Week multiple times this season.
 
For the season, Edwards is averaging 13.5 points (30^th ACC), 5.5 assists (6^th ACC, 44^th NCAA), 2.6 steals (1^st ACC, 15^th NCAA) and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 46.1% overall, 31.0% on threes (18-58) and 71.8% on free throws.
 
SMU is averaging 91.1 points (2^nd ACC, 15^th NCAA) and has scored at least 100 points four times this season. The Mustangs are shooting 49.9% (3^rd ACC, 30^th NCAA) overall while dishing 19.0 assists (3^rd ACC, 19^th NCAA) and grabbing 8.7 steals (5^th ACC, 65^th NCAA). SMU has had at least five double-figure scorers in six games and has five players averaging double figures in scoring: Boopie Miller (19.9, 4^th ACC, 33^rd NCAA), Jaron Pierre Jr. (18.7, 8^th ACC, 59^th NCAA), B.J. Edwards (13.5, 30^th ACC), Corey Washington (12.4, 37^th ACC) and Samet Yigitoglu (11.5, 43^rd ACC).

SMU finished non-conference play at 11-2 and No. 31 in the NCAA NET rankings. The Mustangs open ACC play by hosting No. 12 North Carolina at Moody Coliseum on Saturday at 1:15 p.m. CT.
