TYLER, Texas (SPORTyler/SMU) – SMU quarterback Kevin Jennings has been selected as a semifinalist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award for the second consecutive season, the organization announced on Thursday.

Jennings has been dynamic for the Mustangs in 2025, posting three 300-yard passing games. Efficient at spreading the offense, he has had at least seven different players catch a pass in every game this season. The quarterback ranks second in SMU history for career passing yards (7,431) and career total offensive yards (7,985). The former South Oak Cliff standout also ranks fourth all-time in program history with 55 touchdown passes.

The Texas native currently leads the conference in points responsible for (180), and places second in the ACC in passing touchdowns (26) and passing yards (3,363). With Jennings at the helm, SMU owns the second-best passing offense in the league (283.5), good for 12th nationally.

The redshirt junior was selected as an honorable mention for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Player of the Week three times this fall campaign (Oct. 7, Nov. 4, Nov. 25). Last season, Jennings was dubbed an Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award finalist after leading the Mustangs to an unblemished 8-0 regular season conference record and a College Football Playoff appearance.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, announced in 2012 by the Tyler Chamber and SPORTyler, recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community, and tenacity; specifically tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals.

The nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: Played football and graduated from a Texas High School and/or is playing at a four-year D1 Texas college.
