DALLAS (SMU)Â - SMU women's tennis will conclude their four game homestand as they take on Houston on Friday at the at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex on Friday. The first serve is scheduled for 12 pm CT.
Last time out, the SMU women's tennis team suffered their first home loss of the spring on Sunday afternoon, falling to No. 19 NC State (3-3) on Sunday, 5-0.

What Coach Nevolo had to say post-match: "The score doesn't indicate how close this match was at times. We got ourselves into some good positions in doubles and on multiple courts in singles. We have to commit when it matters. This group will continue the hard work they've been doing."

- The Mustangs lead the overall series over Houston 17-6 and have won each of the last six matches. SMU is 8-2 at home against the Cougars and has won each of the last three home meetings.
- Houston holds a 3-1 record, falling for the first time this season on Wednesday at Rice 4-0. The Cougars' three wins came over UT Arlington, North Texas, and Tarleton State.

- Drew Morris and Arianna Stavropoulos come in ranked 84th in the ITA in doubles per the latest rankings that were released on Wednesday. The tandem is 5-1 in the spring. Santa Strombacha from Houston enters the weekend at No. 94 in the ITA singles rankings.
- Freshman June Bjork and sophomore Millie Skelton lead the Mustangs in singles wins so far this spring. The two lead the team with four wins. Bjork has won her last three singles matchups.
- The Mustangs have several newcomers on the 2024-25 roster, including three freshmen and two transfers. Stavropoulos came to the Hilltop after three productive seasons at UC Davis, and Ellie Pittman made the move to Dallas after two playing years at Texas A&M.
- Millie Skelton and Bjork went 4-0 in the fall season and finished the fall slate as the No. 75 ranked doubles pair by the ITA.
- SMU enters their sixth season of the Jeff Nevolo era, coming off a stellar 2024 season in which they produced a 14-12 overall record, claimed the AAC Championship while also reaching the second round of the NCAA tournament after beating No. 33 Alabama 4-3 in Stillwater, Oklahoma. At SMU, Nevolo is 78-49.
