DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis swept its midweek matches against UTSA and Lehigh at the Styslinger / Altec Tennis Complex on Wednesday.
 
The Mustangs defeated UTSA 4-0 to start the day. Georgi Georgiev earned their first ranked doubles win as a Mustang, while Ofek Shimanov earned his second. Trevor Svajda extended his streak to three ranked singles wins.
 
SMU then won 5-2 against Lehigh to close the day.
 
How it Went vs UTSA
In a close doubles battle, SMU took the early lead with a win from Vikas Deo and Xavier Calvelo (6-4). UTSA's Danijal Muminovic and Oskar Gregorzewski took court two of doubles with a win over Svajda and Louis Cloud (6-3).
 
Georgiev and Shimanov battled the No. 63-ranked Tiago Torres and Miguel Alonso pair to win and clinch the doubles point in a tiebreaker (7-6(3)).
 
Maks Silagy won the first singles match over Jakub Wlodarczyk (6-3, 6-1) to make it 2-0 for the Mustangs.
 
Georgiev defeated Oskar Grezgorzewski (6-2, 6-1) to put SMU at match point and Svajda clinched the match with a win over No. 100 Tiago Torres (6-2, 6-3).
 
The win was Svajda's third consecutive ranked singles win.
 
How it Went vs Lehigh
The Mustangs were off to a fast start by clinching the doubles point in two matches.
 
Silagy and Noah McDonald dominated their match against Jose Murariu and Luke Donovan to win 6-1. Deo and Calvelo clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win over Nate Raney and Jackson Morash.
 
Georgiev once again won his singles match early by defeating Jackson Morash (6-1, 6-1). Jerry Barton made scoreline 3-0 for SMU with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Jose Murariu.
 
The Mountain Hawks reduced the deficit with a win by Wyeth Anzilotti (6-2, 6-3) but McDonald clinched the match for SMU shortly after with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Ofer Hacohen.
