Mustangs Fall To No. 9 Stanford

DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Men's Tennis fell 4-0 to No. 9 Stanford at Styslinger / Altec Tennis Complex in Dallas, Texas, Friday.
 
No. 45-ranked Mustang pair Trevor Svajda and Louis Cloud had the advantage on court two of doubles play to start the match, but their match remained unfinished as two Cardinal doubles pairs clinched the point before SMU could gain momentum.
 
In singles play, the visitors won courts five and two in two sets before winning a three-set battle on court six to clinch the match.
 
How it went
Stanford took the head start by winning the doubles point. Henry Schulenburg and Kyle Kang defeated No. 76 Georgi Georgiev and Ofek Shimanov (6-1) before the Cardinal's Nico Godsick and Hudson Rivera defeated Maks Silagy and Jerry Barton (6-1) to win the first point.
 
The visitors extended their lead to 2-0 in singles play, Cloud dropped his match on court five to Godsick (6-2, 6-1).
 
Stanford's No. 76 Max Basing won the visitors' third point by defeating Barton (6-3, 6-2) on court two.
 
Xavier Calvelo forced a third set against Rivera, but the latter clinched the match for Stanford on court six (6-3, 3-6, 6-1).
