WACO, Texas (NCEA/SMU) – The SMU equestrian team has risen to No. 2 in the National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) rankings, its highest placement since October, the governing association announced on Tuesday.
SMU (9-4) has experienced a climb since the beginning of the spring season. The Mustangs sat at seventh prior to their first meet in the 2025 calendar year but have since rattled off six consecutive wins to rise all the way to second. The six-meet win streak is the longest active streak in the nation, and the Ponies also currently hold the second-longest home winning streak at 18.
The six wins have been highlighted by four victories over ranked foes, including a trio of wins over top-three opponents. In addition, SMU has earned victories by a combined score of 79-30 during its streak.
Entering last Saturday's meet against then-No. 3 Oklahoma State, the Mustangs were fourth in the NCEA polls. However, a dominating victory over the Cowgirls coupled with a loss by TCU allowed SMU is rise two spots.
The rankings come prior to SMU's regular season finale at home on Friday against Auburn. The Tigers are ranked No. 1 in the polls for 15 consecutive editions of the poll, dating back to the week one poll on September 30.
