LAS VEGAS (SMU) – SMU men's golf posted a 12
th place finish against a stacked field at the Southern Highlands Collegiate with sophomore
Matthew Foster finishing in 12
th.
The Mustangs sat in 13
th place after two rounds of the invitational. Facing a field which features 13 teams ranked in the top 50, the Mustangs passed Georgia Tech on Tuesday. Recording their lowest round of the tournament, the Mustangs shot three under, 285. Second-ranked Auburn won the tournament by 10 strokes.
Foster was the Mustangs' leader throughout the tournament. He carded back-to-back rounds of 74 to start his performance. On the final day, the Dallas native shot a one-under 71. His day was highlighted by a 33 on the front nine including four birdies. His 12th-place finish was his best since winning the Fallen Oak Invitational back in October of 2023.
Enrique Dimayuga shot a 71 on the final day to finish in a tie for 30
th. On his final 10 holes of the tournament, he posted four birdies and no bogeys.
Will Sides recorded his best round of the week in the final round. He shot a 70 with just one bogey. Sides finished in a tie for 47
th up 19 spots in the final round.
Zachary Kingsland carded a 73 in round three. He maintained his 54
th place standing.
Christian Clark also carded his best round with a 73 to finish in 81st. He started his day with birdies on two of the first three holes.
The Mustangs return to the course on Monday March 17 for the Pauma Valley Invitational hosted by LMU.
