All-AAC Forward Corey Washington Signs With The Mustangs

DALLAS (SMU) – Corey Washington, an All-American Athletic Conference forward, has signed with the Mustangs for the 2025-26 season, Head Coach Andy Enfield announced today. Washington joins SMU's incoming class that is ranked as high as No. 17 nationally, including the highest ranked high school signing class in program history that was ranked as high as No. 6 nationally.
 
The transfer from Wichita State averaged 13.7 points (14th AAC) and 7.5 rebounds (5th AAC) with nine double-doubles (3rd AAC). He was also named one of the Oscar Robertson National Players of the Week on Feb. 18. Washington played all 34 games for the Shockers, totaling 34 steals, 26 blocked shots and 18 assists. He previously played at Saint Peter's, making All-MAAC First Team after averaging 15.9 points and 6.3 rebounds in 2023-24. He was the 2024 MAAC Tournament MVP as the Peacocks won the league title and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
 
In Enfield's first season on the Hilltop, the Mustangs went 24-11 overall and earned a No. 1 seed in the NIT. SMU finished 13-7 in the program's inaugural season in the ACC to tie for fourth, recording a 7-3 road record in league play. The Mustangs also won the Acrisure Holiday Invitational and signed the highest rated recruiting class in program history (No. 6 by ESPN).

2024-25 (Junior):
Appeared in all 34 games, making 33 starts... Second on the team in scoring (13.7 ppg), rebounding (7.5 rpg), double-doubles (9) and steals (34)... His 26 games in double figures were second on the team... Five games with 20+ points... Notched a double-double of 21 points and 11 rebounds in the NIT at Oklahoma State (March 18)... Named to the American Weekly Honorable Mention on Feb. 10... 12th straight game in double figures with 11 points and 8 rebounds at South Florida (Feb. 9)... Picked up his fifth double-double behind a season-high 21 points and 10 rebounds at Charlotte (Feb. 4)... Ran his double figure streak to 10 in a row following an 11-point outing vs. North Texas (Jan. 29)... Fourth double-double came against ECU (Jan. 18) behind 19 points and a career-high 18 rebounds... His 18 rebounds were the most by a Shocker since 1999... Game-high 16 points to go with 7 rebounds vs. Charlotte (Jan. 14)... Fifth straight game in double figures with 12 points and 7 rebounds at UTSA (Jan. 11)... Third double-double of the season came vs. USF (Jan. 6) with 15 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 5 steals... Returned to the starting lineup in the conference opener at Temple (Jan. 3) and totaled 13 points and 5 rebounds before fouling out in just 15 minutes... Came off the bench and tallied 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals vs. Friends (Dec. 29)... Second double-double of the season came vs. Kansas State (Dec. 21) with 18 points and 10 rebounds... Named American Weekly Honorable Mention for second time (Dec. 9)... First double-double with 17 points and a career-high 13 rebounds vs. ETSU (Dec. 7)... Bounced back from an off game vs. Florida to finish with 10 points and 7 rebounds vs. Alcorn State (Dec. 4)... Scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds before fouling out vs. Minnesota (Nov. 28), while also holding Minnesota's leading scorer to just 1-of-7 from the field... Named American Weekly Honorable Mention on Nov. 25... Poured in 10 of his 13 points vs. Saint Louis (Nov. 22) in the second half to go with a team-high 8 rebounds... Game-high 20 points and 8 rebounds to lead a comeback win over Monmouth (Nov. 18)... Scored all 19 of his team-high 19 points in the second half vs. Northern Iowa (Nov. 14)... First game in double figures as a Shocker, tallying 14 points vs. Montana State (Nov. 9)... Finished with 6 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in his Wichita State debut at WKU (Nov. 4).

2022-24 (Saint Peter's):
In his two years at Saint Peter's he appeared in 54 total games, making 47 starts. As a freshman he earned All-MAAC Rookie Team honors after averaging 6.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game... This past season his numbers increased in every category, including 15.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game on 45.5 percent shooting and 30.8 percent from three-point range, earning All-MAAC First Team honors... He didn't attempt a single three-pointer as a freshman, but made a big jump as a sophomore going 24-for-78... He scored 24 points with nine rebounds and four blocks in the MAAC tournament championship game, earning tournament MVP honors... Washington had 10 games of 20 or more points, including a career-high 29 points vs. Siena on Feb. 16... After his career night vs. Siena, he was named the MAAC Player of the Week... He recorded four double-doubles and started all but three games in 2023-24... Washington was also named to the All-Met Second Team by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association.

He is the son of Corey Sr. and LaQuinta Washington... He has two sisters Kimorah and Jasmine, and one brother Jordan.
