SMU rowing takes on the program's first ACC Championship this weekend at Lake Hartwell in Clemson, South Carolina. Action begins on Friday, May 16 at 7:05 a.m. CT.

FIELD
The field includes ranked teams No. 1 Stanford, No. 9 California, No. 11 Syracuse, No. 13 Virginia, No. 18 Duke, No. 24 North Carolina. Also in the field alongside the Mustangs are Boston College, Clemson, Duke, Louisville, Miami and Notre Dame.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Mustangs competed in the Longhorn Invite. They were highlighted by the second varsity eight who finished in 7:07.584 ahead of Oklahoma on Saturday. Action on Friday was shortened due to weather, The Mustangs raced in seven races across the weekend.
 
AT THE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
The Mustangs are the four-time reigning champions of the American Conference. This will be the team's first trip to the ACC Championship.
 
THIS SEASON: SMU returns 16 student-athletes who competed at last season's NCAA Championship: Josephine Wilson, Sydney Stuelpe, Grace Knudson,Haley Schwenn, Lauren Bilafer, Ashlyn Wilshire, Annabelle New, Anna Fina, Claire Murphy, Sophia Dooley, Jaime Maybery, Ava Ha, Francesca La Marca, Ellie Lewis. Avery Bethel and Paige Horton. They four-peated as AAC Champions and received an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. The squad finished in 21st nationally.
 
PRESIDENTIAL AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
Rowing senior Grace Knudson was honored as a Presidential Award of Excellence Scholar Athlete this past weekend at the Hilltop Excellence Awards. The presidential awards for excellence were designed to recognize students who excel academically in addition to demonstrating outstanding ability in one of three specific areas, athletics, leadership, and volunteer service. Grace helped lead SMU to its 4th consecutive conference championship and to a 7th place finish at the NCAA National Championships. She is a member of the SAAC and a rowing representative to the ACC. She serves as a student representative to the board of trustees athletics committee. Her nominators describe her as smart, mature, and persistent.
