DALLAS (SMU) – The SMU volleyball program released its full 2025 schedule Tuesday. The Mustangs will play 30 matches – 18 against ACC foes and 12 against non-conference opponents.
Year four under head coach Sam Erger features eight teams that finished in the top 25 of the AVCA Coaches Poll last season. The schedule also features 15 teams that reached the NCAA Tournament in 2024.
Before the season officially begins, SMU will have its annual Red vs. Blue Scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 15, at Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs will also host TCU in a scrimmage on Friday, Aug. 22.Â
SMU's season begins in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, where the Mustangs will play LSU on Aug. 29 and Baylor on Aug. 30. The following week, SMU will head home for its first matches at Moody Coliseum, where it will host Washington, Northern Iowa, and Stony Brook in its annual home tournament Sept. 4-6.
The Mustangs will next battle Texas A&M in the "Showdown at the Net" on Sep. 9 at home, concluding a four-match homestand. The match will air on ESPN2.
SMU will end non-conference action with two straight weeks on the road, the first being in Lexington, Kentucky, as they battle Kentucky and Purdue on Sept. 13 and 14.
In the final week of non-conference action, the Mustangs will play Stephen F. Austin and UTEP on Sept. 18 and 19 at Shelton Gymnasium in Nacogdoches, Texas. Â
SMU opens conference play at home with a match against the reigning ACC Champions Pitt on Sept. 24, followed by a matchup with the Panthers in Pittsburgh on Sep. 28. The Mustangs then return to Dallas for two home matches against Georgia Tech (Oct. 3) and Clemson (Oct.5) before beginning a four-match road stretch which includes contests against Florida State (Oct. 10), Miami (Oct. 12), Louisville (Oct. 17), and Notre Dame (Oct. 19). Â
The Red and Blue return home to face Wake Forest (Oct. 24) and NC State (Oct. 26) before a road match at North Carolina (Oct.31). SMU begins November at Duke (Nov. 2) before a home weekend against Virginia (Nov. 7) and Virginia Tech (Nov. 9). The Mustangs head into the home stretch of the regular season with two of their final three road matches out west at California (Nov. 14) and Stanford (Nov. 16).
A home tilt against Boston College on Nov. 21 fronts three-straight home matches, which include showings against Syracuse (Nov. 23) and Florida State (Nov. 26) before the regular season concludes Saturday, Nov. 28, at NC State.
Start times and TV information will be added to the SMUMustangs.com schedule page as they become known.
