DALLAS (SMU) – SMU Football came in at 16th in the Associated Press (AP) preseason poll on Monday.

The Mustangs' 16th ranking is the highest they have been in the preseason poll since 1985.
 
They finished 12th last year in the final AP poll, the highest finish by the program since being ranked eighth in the final poll back in 1984.

SMU also came in at 16th in the preseason US LBM Coaches Poll a week ago.
