Mackenzie Lee was named to the Preseason ANNIKA Award Watch List on Monday, the most prestigious award for a female college golfer.

Mackenzie Lee has rewritten the record book during her three years on the Hilltop.

A native of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Lee currently holds the SMU record for lowest career scoring average of 71.44, a full stroke lower than the next best Mustang. She has racked up 396 birdies, also an SMU record. Her SMU records extend to rounds of par or better. Lee has 65 of rounds of par or better, breaking the previous record of 46 set by Brigette Dunne. Last season, she broke her own record for lowest single season scoring mark, averaging 71.31 strokes in 2024-25. Lee has three of the top four scoring seasons in Mustang history. Lee has 22 top 10 showings as a Mustang with a low round of 10-under par, an SMU record. Lee's compiled eight of the top 24 rounds in Mustang history.

During 2025, Lee has participated in a gauntlet of the top women's amateur events. She participated in the Augusta National Women's Amateur, making a hole in one and finishing in 11th. She won the acclaimed North South Amateur tournament, beating out a field of 120 of the best women's golfer amateurs at Pinehurst No. 2. She won five rounds of match play to complete her historic run. The senior earned a bid to the U.S. Women's Amateur and made the match play portion of the tournament. Created in 2014, the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel is annually given to the top female Division 1 collegiate golfer; the winner voted on by players, coaches and members of the college golf media. Named for Annika Sorenstam, the award was created in partnership with the Haskins Foundation to acknowledge the top female golfer and to match the Haskins Award presented by Stifel, which acknowledges the top male Division I collegiate golfer. Mirabel Ting (Florida State) became the 12th ANNIKA Award winner in 2025.
