AUGUSTA, Ga. (SMU) – SMU punter Wade McSparron has earned a spot on the Ray Guy Award's "Ray's 8" list announced the Augusta Sports Council in a release on Tuesday.
Making his collegiate debut in the 42-13 win over East Texas A&M, the redshirt freshman made quite a first impression. Tallying three punts for a total of 140 yards, McSparron produced two 50+ yard kicks for the Mustangs. With a long of 53 yards, he averaged 46.67 yards per punt.
This is the Australia native's first time receiving this honor. The Ray Guy Award's "Ray's 8" list recognizes eight of the nation's top punters every week. To vote for McSparron as this week's Punter of the Week, visit this link.
